Idiot! Bus Collision Fly Over 17 Passengers Injured

A Mercedez-Bens brand interprovincial bus crashed into an overpass or flyover in Padang Panjang, West Sumatra (Sumbar), Indonesia on Sunday (30/01) and got stuck. As a result of the incident the roof of the bus fell off and at least 17 people were injured.

The bus belongs to PT Sipirok Nauli, with the destination North Sumatra (Sumut)-Jambi. The bus, which has BB 7626 LH, is suspected to be traveling at high speed.

The Head of Public Relations of the West Sumatra Police, Kombes Pol. Stefanus Satake Bayu, said there were 20 passengers on the bus, of which 17 were rushed to the hospital due to their injuries.

“There is 1 driver, and 16 other passengers who were rushed to the hospital because of their injuries,” he said.

Satake said the bus was coming from Bukittinggi to Jambi. However, the driver allegedly did not know the route, so he took the wrong route.

“The incident was reported to have occurred at around 06.00 WIB, precisely at Simpang 8 Flyover Padang Panjang City,” said Satake.

In addition to 17 people who were injured as a result of the unfortunate incident, the roof of the large bus was separated from the bus body.

This is because the road at the bottom of the flyover can only be traversed by vehicles measuring 2.2 meters.

“The flyover is 2.2 meters high, so it cannot be passed by vehicles taller than that,” he explained.

Until now, his party said that they were still investigating the crime scene and investigating the cause of the accident.
